What does it mean to be a Voice 21 Oracy School?

Becoming a Voice 21 Oracy School means you are committed to transforming your school’s teaching, learning and ethos to ensure that all of your students benefit from a high-quality oracy education.

You are also joining our network of schools and educators across the UK, open to sharing their best practice and innovation in oracy education, and eager to hear from you about your experiences and ideas.

What does membership include?

There are three progressive stages of membership, each typically lasting for a year and containing a carefully-constructed blend of professional development and bespoke support. Find out more about each stage below, and how they are designed to enable your school and staff to meet the Oracy Benchmarks.

Through our courses, oracy consultancy and online learning, you will work with our oracy teaching and learning experts to identify and address your specific needs and ambitions for oracy both in your classrooms and across your school.

At each stage you will have access to our wider membership benefits, including access to our events, masterclasses and networking opportunities.

Stage 1

During Stage 1 you will build the foundations of oracy teaching and learning to meet the Oracy Teacher Benchmarks.

Our Oracy Pedagogy and Practice Course, consultancy support and online learning modules will equip teachers in your school with the expertise, tools and resources to provide a high-quality oracy education in every classroom.

Stage 2

During Stage 2 you will focus on meeting the Oracy School Benchmarks, embedding oracy throughout the curriculum, culture, routines and core approaches of the school.

Our Oracy Curriculum and Culture Course, consultancy support and online learning modules will equip you and your teachers with the expertise, tools and resources to embed a whole school approach to oracy education.

Stage 3

During Stage 3 you will improve and sustain practice across your school, embedding long-term organisational change. There will also be opportunities to support other schools with the development of their practice.

Our Oracy Impact & Innovation Course, consultancy support and self-led modules will equip you and your teachers with the expertise, tools and resources to sustain, strengthen and share your oracy teaching and learning practice.

Most schools should start at Stage 1, but do contact us to discuss this further if you are unsure. You can register just for Stage 1 or for multiple Stages.
