The Great Oracy Exhibition 2023 in review

The UK's largest festival dedicated to oracy.

On Monday 10 October, we welcomed to Manchester, several hundred teachers and educators from all over the UK to our annual oracy festival, The Great Oracy Exhibition 2023.

The Great Oracy Exhibition is the moment is when our national network of Voice 21 Oracy Schools comes together to celebrate and share the impact of oracy education in their settings.

The day featured over 20 varied and motivating sessions that probed, explored and progressed the conversation on how we deliver oracy education well in our schools. A wide range of inspiring speakers including students from across our schools skilfully brought to life the positive impact that oracy education can make.

The topics discussed included:

  • How we can assess oracy
  • How can we help ‘shatter the class ceiling’ through oracy
  • Making talk matter in maths
  • How to deliver an oracy assembly
  • Championing an oracy centred approach to vocabulary development
  • Empowering young people for advocacy
  • How to amplify impact across a MAT

The energy and buzz was electric and it was wonderful to feel the sense of purpose from attendees who were excited to put into practice what they had heard and learned.

“Can’t recommend the Voice 21 journey enough our children have absolutely benefited and continue to do so!” St John Vianney English Hub.

Together we can ensure all young people find their voice for success in school and in life.
