Voice 21 announces 11 newly accredited Voice 21 Oracy Centres of Excellence

Schools that are awarded the Centre of Excellence accreditation join a movement of schools across the UK that are transforming teaching and learning through talk by developing and implementing an oracy-rich approach to teaching and learning.

Each year, Voice 21 Oracy Schools can apply to become a Centre of Excellence through a rigorous process designed to celebrate successes, showcase excellence and signal possible areas for further development in their oracy provision.

Each school is assessed against five key benchmarks: Do they have an ambitious vision for oracy? Have they built a culture of oracy? Is their curriculum for oracy sustained and wide-ranging? Do they recognise oracy as central to learning? And are they accountable for the impact of oracy education?

Voice 21 are proud to accredit 11 new schools, from across the UK, as Voice 21 Oracy Centres of Excellence. These schools are an important part of the national oracy movement, demonstrating the impact of an oracy education with the rest of the network.

The new Voice 21 Oracy Centres of Excellence are:

Earlham Primary School

Green Meadow Primary School

Grove Street Primary School

Hazelbury Primary School

Rosebank Primary School

Saltley Academy

Samuel Ryder Academy

St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School

St. George’s Primary School

Trenance Learning Academy

Tulloch Primary School

They join last year’s Voice 21 Oracy Centres of Excellence: Bishop Young CofE Academy, Crab Lane Primary School, Cubitt Town Primary School, Filton Avenue Primary School, The Halifax Academy, Madani Secondary Girls’ School, Parkfield Community School, Pendle Primary Academy, and Torriano Primary School.

We would like to say congratulations to all of our newly accredited Voice 21 Oracy Centres of Excellence. This award recognises the quality of each school’s oracy provision which is equipping their students with the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.
