In our 2016 ‘State of Speaking’ report, we found that a majority of headteachers (84%) and teachers (68%) believe that oracy is important for their students. Despite this, the majority also said they have not received any recent training in oracy and would not know where to look for support in this area.

We are changing this by supporting teachers and schools to build understanding, confidence and expertise in oracy.

Our programme principles

Whilst we regularly refine and update our programme content and structure, the core principles which underpin
