DELTA Academies Trust and Voice 21 Partnership: Voice DELTA

February 2019

Voice 21 is excited to announce a new partnership with the DELTA Academies Trust: ‘Voice DELTA. Between March and November 2019, this aims to train every teacher in all 32 primary schools across the Trust to become expert oracy practitioners.

Voice DELTA will consist of 7 Oracy Pioneer Programmes, one for each year group, from EYFS to Year 6. Each Oracy Pioneer Programme will take place over 3 days, and will equip participants with the skills needed to introduce, develop and embed a culture of oracy, starting at classroom level.

The long-term aims of this project are to improve the oracy skills and confidence of DELTA pupils, increase the knowledge and oracy skills of DELTA teachers and both improve curriculum-planning and increase use of the oracy teaching toolkit across the Trust.

Gillian Wiles, Director of Education, Primary DELTA Academies Trust, said:

‘DELTA Academies Trust is proud to be working with Voice 21 to participate in a cutting-edge project to train every teacher to understand and deliver a curriculum where oracy is at the heart of all learning’.

Jim Riddiford, Director of Programmes at Voice 21, said:

‘We are excited to be working with DELTA Academies Trust. Over the course of the next 10 months, participants will gain a grounding in the theory and research on oracy; explore and embed teaching strategies, approaches and techniques; and gain from peer support in their programme cohorts, in readiness to lead oracy across your school and trust beyond the project. We are confident that, together, we can get talking in class!’
